Hugs

(fondant teddy bear crafted by me. sorry for the powdered sugar mess, i don't have a better picture of it.)
I know that a few Xangans have experienced loss in their families this week. I just want to wish all of you the best, that you're in my thoughts.
*Hugs*

That's sweet of you. I appreciate your post! And the bear is too adorable!
Adorable!
It's beautiful xoxoxo
It's cute!
You wouldn't have a fondant recipe I could steal, would you? The one I've got is either crap, or I'm just bad at fondant.
@babysgirl23 - @endlesssummer128 - @Xcite_Media - @Shinbi_Belldandy - @Mrs_FoodLover - Thank you!
@chronic_masticator - Thanks! I'm sorry, I do not have a recipe for fondant. This bear was formed out of purchased fondant. My baking friend makes hers out of marshmallows, a little water and powdered sugar. She adds a little tylose powder (which is used to make gumpaste) to make the fondant firmer, but I have not made it myself so I cannot say if it is any good. I do intend on trying to make fondant in the future, though.
@babybug329 - Ah. I've always wondered about the store-bought stuff. All the reviews I've read say that it tastes chemical-y. The recipe I have is for a marshmallow fondant. I've had the absolute worst time trying to work with it.
@chronic_masticator - I've tried 3 kinds of store-bought (in the order of tastiness): 1. Duff Goldman (Vanilla flavor) 2. Satin Ice (vanilla flavor. Brown is chocolate, like Tootsie rolls) 3. Wilton (absolutely gross, but easy to work with because it is pretty firm). Both the Duff and Satin Ice are medium softness, and vanilla flavored. The Duff one is slightly better in texture, with the Satin Ice a little softer. But, in the end I prefer buttercream frosting over fondant for taste and texture. I wouldn't even bother with fondant if people didn't ask for it. I am a fan of old fashioned frosted cakes, cakes that looked like cakes. Not cakes made to look like purses, animals, etc. But sadly folks are all caught up in the glitz and glamour, favoring looks over flavor.
@babybug329 - Buttercream frosting is always good. =)
Very beautifully made and very creative. And thanks for the tips. I read the comments, and learn a lot.
Yes, it is sad about the losses. They made a loving tribute to their loved ones.
Xanga needs lovely people like you. :)
